The Brewing Process
You should understand that the French press coffee maker has three main components in it. The carafe that contains the coffee, the filter and the plunger.

The Pro-Con Game
The biggest advantage of French press is that you can have a coffee with intense flavor. Because actual coffee grounds are used for extraction, even the essential oils are present in your cup of coffee.
At the same time, there is a high chance that a lot of coffee ground grit would be present in the coffee. If you are used to the grit-less coffee from machines, this may be a problem.
Pour over coffee, however, surpasses one of the limitations we’ve seen in French press — the irremovable presence of grit. The filters used in pour over coffee makers are comparatively better at getting rid of grit.
In the long run, you can have a clearer cup of coffee. While the cleaning process is also easier, you can’t get intense coffee from a pour-over maker.
The Bottom Line
At the end of the day, you can make the decision a bit easier. If you want to have a highly intense coffee with all the aroma, you should prefer French press. You may have to deal with some grit here.
